Jake is a native of Oklahoma and has been professionally interpreting since 2013. He holds a Master of Science in ASL/English Interpreting Pedagogy from the University of North Florida, and a Bachelor of Science in Education (Deaf and Elementary) from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
He has held the National Interpreter Certification and Educational:K-12 credential from the Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf since 2016. He also holds Oklahoma’s Quality Assurance Transliterating: Level V, Interpreting: Level V, and Texas’ Board for Evaluation of Interpreters: Master Interpreter. Jake is registered as an Educational Interpreter with the Oklahoma State Department of Education, and holds a Teaching Certificate for both Elementary (1-8) and Deaf/Hard of Hearing (PK-12) students.
Jake’s primary interpreting work is in Video Relay, with occasional freelance-community jobs. He is an Adjunct Instructor at OSU-OKC in the Interpreter Training Program and has evaluated for Oklahoma’s interpreter certification system (QAST). He has served on advisory committees related to interpreting, and presented on topics related to Interpreting and Deaf Education across the state of Oklahoma.
